iPhone 5s: The Wait is Over
Apple finally unveiled the next generation iPhone 5s on 10th September 2013 at its headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. With almost same physical design as the iPhone 5, iPhone 5s offers a number of technological upgrades.
The iPhone 5s is being called the most “forward looking” iPhone, and here’s why:
1. It’s Fast
– iPhone 5s is powered by a new processor, the Apple A7 chip which delivers graphics and CPU performance almost 2 times faster than the A6. The A7 chip runs OpenGL ES 3.0, allowing better reflection and lens flare. It provides a more impressive photo realism for gaming. The 64-bit architecture lets you handle more data simultaneously in comparison to the traditional 32-bit systems. These features make iPhone 5s two times faster than iPhone 5 and 56 times faster than the original iPhone.
2. It’s a New Opportunity
– Core Motion API is an advancement for developers. It consolidates sensor data powered by a co-processor called the M7. This sensor data can be used in the development of fitness apps, and Apple says this feature will empower a new generation of health apps.
3. It’s Innovative
– With the addition of Touch ID, iPhone 5s has been given a revolutionary feature. You no longer have to unlock your phone with cumbersome passwords. Fingerprint recognition system allows you to unlock the phone and keep your secrets safe with an ease. The sensor is 170 microns thin, has 360 degree readability and offers storage of multiple fingerprints which are encrypted on the A7 chip. The sensor is placed on the Home button, which is made from sapphire and is scratch resistant.
4. It’s More Detailed
– Larger pixels and not more pixels mean a better picture. The 8 megapixel camera ensures a brighter and more intricate picture. The iSight camera has a 15% larger sensor and an aperture of f/2.2. The dual LEDs or True Tone Flash illuminate a scene with cold and warm light which enables you to capture photos with more accurate colors. Burst mode is also included in the camera to snap 10 still pictures per second. Also, the video camera has a slow-motion mode capable of capturing a video at 120 frames per second at 720p.
5. It’s Colorful, Light and Trendy
– 4.87×2.31×0.3 inches are the dimensions of iPhone 5s. It weighs 3.95 ounces, just like iPhone 5. The additional option is that iPhone 5s will also be available in Black, White and Gold.
6. It’s Better
– For the sake of speed, no one prefers a poor battery life. Keeping this in mind, Apple claims that iPhone 5s offers better battery back up.
Battery life:
- 10 hours 3G talk
- 8 hours 3G browsing
- 10 hours Wi-Fi browsing
- 10 hours video playback
- 40 hours music playback
- 250 hours standby
7. It has Freebies
– Apple offers free bundled iLife and iWork apps including Pages, Keynote, Numbers, etc. to iPhone 5s users.
The iPhone 5s will go on sale in 9 countries including Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, the U.K and the U.S on Friday, September 20. With two year service contracts with Verizon and AT&T, the iPhone 5s with 16, 32 and 64GB of storage will cost $199, $299 and $399 respectively.
