From now on finding games, music, services and media content on Facebook is no more a tough task. This is because Facebook has launched its application center in India and in six other countries.
Last month, Facebook launched the App Center in US. And with its launch in India, the App Center is now available in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and U.K.
Users in Brazil, France, Germany, Russia, Spain, Taiwan and Turkey will be next to get access to Facebook App Center. With over 900 million active users, Facebook aims to reach them, 80% of which are residing outside U.S. and Canada.
Many of the Facebook users in India play games online. But whether they will use the app to find more games of their interest is yet to be seen. Indian Facebook users are still not used to apps, so Facebook has to make the app store more obvious to the users for a better use.
If you visit the Facebook’s home page, you will find the app center icon on left side of the page. Its a bit hidden from the normal view. A user in hurry would never notice the small icon amongst the clutter. One would surely expect the icon to be on the right side or a little more visible if it has to be on the left.
If you click on the icon you will have a series of apps recommended to you based on your past apps usage. The app center automatically organizes apps on the page according to ‘mostly used’ or ‘trending’ for the convenience of the user.
App center has already gained popularity in U.S., but would it be the same for India? All we have to do is just wait and watch how the users will react to the app center. Whether there will be a boost in the apps purchase or will the app center remain unclicked and hidden from the users view? It is too early for any kind of comment.
So whenever you login to Facebook next time, don’t forget to click on that small icon on left side of your Facebook home page. Start exploring the app center and find out for yourself how you feel about the app center.
